Eight prominent celebrities who studied law but are full-time entertainers

These celebrities studied law, but they dumped the noble profession that used to mean so much to them to follow their first love which is entertainment.

Instead of appearing in courts and wearing wigs to defend client’s cases, they perform in concerts and comedy shows to put smiles on the faces of Nigerians.

 

Here are eight prominent celebrities who studied law but are full-time entertainers:

Richard Eyimofe Mofe-Damijo, famously known as RMD, who hails from Delta state was born on July 6, 1961. The ace actor who was also a former Delta Commissioner for Culture and Tourism was born in Aladja community of Udu Kingdom, close to Warri, Delta State.

RMD attended Midwest College and Anglican Grammar School in Warri.

He studied Theatre Arts at the University of Benin, Edo State.

RMD returned to school to study law at the University of Lagos in 1997 and graduated in 2004.

Akindele Funke Bello, famously known as Jenifa, is a star Nigerian actress and producer.

She was born in Ikorodu, Lagos on August 24, 1977.

She starred in the situation comedy ‘I need to know’ from the year 1998 to 2002.

She emerged the Best Actress at the Africa Movie Academy Award in a leading role in 2009.

Funke plays the lead character in her show ‘Jenifa’s Diary’.

She studied Mass Communication at the defunct Ogun State Polytechnic, now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, where she obtained an Ordinary National Diploma (OND). She later got a degree in Law.

Chukwuebuka Obi-Uchendu famously known as Ebuka was born in Benin City, Edo state on 14 July 1982. He is popularly known for hosting the Big Brother Nigeria reality show, the famous ‘Rubbin Minds talk show’ on Channels TV, he also co-hosts ‘The Spot and Men’s Corner’ on Ebonylife Television.

Ebuka was one of the successful 14 housemates to participate in the first season of the Big Brother Nigeria reality show, he was the eighth housemate to be evicted from the house.

He remains one of the most successful Big Brother Nigeria 2006 Housemate. He Studied Law at the University of Benin, Edo state, and proceeded to law school and finished in 2005.

Omawumi Megbele, famously Known by her stage name Omawumi, was born on April 13, 1982.  The singer who doubles as a songwriter and actress hails from Itsekiri in Delta state

She became famous in 2007 as the runner-up of that year’s West African Idols, a musical reality Television show. She also made it big with her second album titled ‘The Lasso of Truth’, which was reported to be a big commercial success in Nigeria.

Omawumi studied Law at Ambrose Alli University and graduated in 2005. Upon graduation, she relocated to Port Harcourt, Rivers State and worked with “O.S Megbele & Associates” her family’s law firm called.

Folarin Falana was born in Lagos on October 27, 1990. He is a rapper, songwriter and actor famously known by his stage name Falz. His journey into entertainment began while in secondary school after he formed the group called ‘The School Boys’ with his crew members, after which his professional career as a musical artist began in 2009.

He is the pioneer and founder of Bahd Guys Records.

His parents are renowned lawyers and human right activists Femi and Funmi Falana.

He studied Law at the University of Reading England, and graduated with an LLB honors degree.

Falz was called to the bar in year 2012 after graduating from the Nigeria Law School in Abuja.

Omotunde Adebowale David also popularly known as Lolo 1 of wazobia, is a Nigerian radio presenter who hosts the show, ‘Oga Madam’ on Wazobia FM 94.1.

Her secondary school was at Ijebu-Ode Anglican Girls secondary school Ogun state where she also spent part of her school days as a border. She studied Law at the Lagos State University and later went to law school.

Femi Adebayo is the son of the veteran Nollywood actor, Adebayo Salami.

Femi Adebayo is a Nollywood movie actor, who doubles as a director and a producer. He is a lawyer by profession and he is the Special Adviser to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State on Arts, Culture and Tourism.

Femi hails from Kwara state but was born in Lagos, Nigeria. His secondary school education was in C&S College after which he attended the University of Ilorin where he studied law and obtained a bachelor’s degree in Law. He went further to the University of Ibadan to obtain his master’s degree in Law.

Anayo Modestus Onyekwere famously and well known as Kanayo O. Kanayo was born in Mbaise, Imo State on March 1, 1962.

He is a Nigerian actor and lawyer. In the year 2006, he won the African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in a Leading Role he played in the movie “Family Battle

Kanayo O. Kanayo joined the list of celebrities in the country who also studied law, when he was called to the Nigerian Bar on Tuesday, September 15, 2020.

He studied Law at the University of Abuja before he proceeded to the Nigerian Law School.
